Win Back is a Minnesota-based non-profit organization with a mission of activating underserved communities through holistic healing, economic empowerment, and arts and culture.
Win Back invites like-minded individuals and organizations to join us for our annual “Day of Remembrance” (DOR). DOR is a full day of community-centered gatherings dedicated to honoring the memory of George Floyd and recognizing the profound social movement ignited by his tragic murder. The event has four parts: Inter-faith Prayer, Remembrance Brunch, Teen Summit, and Community Gathering at George Floyd Square. Each segment of the day represents a core tenet of our mission.

In partnership with the Community Justice Project (CJP), a nationally recognized civil rights clinic at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, our goal for this day is to unite diverse communities for a time of collective learning, introspection, healing, and service. This gathering presents a vital opportunity for the Minneapolis community to congregate and engage in thoughtful reflection on the enduring ramifications of George Floyd's murder, the resultant societal upheaval, and the ongoing pursuit of racial justice. We will economically empower two deserving high school students and two deserving college students or college-age young adults with scholarships during the event. The inaugural brunch will feature a thought-provoking panel discussion, expertly moderated by Leslie Redmond, Executive Director of Win Back. Esteemed panelists include:
● Keith Ellison, MN Attorney General
● Doug Baker, retired President and CEO of Ecolab
● Medaria Arradondo, the First Black Chief of the Minneapolis Police Department
● Nekima Levy-Armstrong, a prominent Civil Rights Attorney and former President of the Minneapolis NAACP
● Toshira Garraway, Executive Director of Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence.
